THE SALEM, NH HISTORIC DEPOT TRAIN STATION

Stonehill Builders completed the restoration of the historic Depot Train Station in Salem, NH. The Depot Train Station has been a fixture in the town since the early 1800's when many travelers coming from other towns to parts unknown stopped at the little station for a respite from travel. Centered halfway between Boston, MA and Concord, NH, Salem Depot was the natural place for travelers of the day to take a brief respite from their journey. While time has taken its toll on this little treasure in the depot, the good news is it has been examined and is structurally intact, so most of its condition is cosmetic.

The Goal - Restoration and Preservation for Future Generations

The group heading the restoration project consists of citizens and members of the business community that care deeply about reviving this train station so that it may be enjoyed by future generations.

The station had been worked on in the past, adding layers onto layers, but we gutted the structure down to its bare studs and rebuilt it from there.
